Kokoro translates in Japanese as mind, heart or spirit.  To celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of Japan House, Niwa Zenkya, kokoro artist, conducts painting workshops at Japan House during the week of October 20-24, 2008 while sharing warm kokoro messages.

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of Japan House, Krannert Center presents Noh, one of the most time-honored theater arts of Japan in the afternoon of October 25.  Shozo Sato, Professor Emeritus of the UIUC Art & Design faculty shares his expertise on Japanese traditional theater with an introduction to the Noh performances on the Krannert Center stage.  

To celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of Japan House, Masaji Terasawa performs the ancient art of amezaiku, a method of sculpting hot taffy-like candy into fantastic shapes of animals and other creatures.  He will perform his artwork in the afternoon of October 26, 2008 at Japan House, 2000 S. Lincoln Avenue, Urbana.
